Whiskey Blu, located at 1714 N. Las Palmas, advertises $2 beer, including Pabst, Budweiser, and Coors as well as $5 shots of Makers Mark, Bullit, Crown, Jim Beam and more. … Whiskey Blu has stepped up to serve those who enjoy a nice, affordable drink.
And look again! Another bar closed down but now it’s back:
For several years, Dillon’s Irish Pub & Grill was a hub for sports fans, tourists and nightlife at the famed intersection of Hollywood and Vine. Known for its $3 beers…
And look again again!
For those who love a little booze and music, Hollywood & Highland’s summer series, Wine & Jazz, does not disappoint!
Ah, but Kerry Morrison doesn’t love it so much.
In another issue of the newsletter you can read the disturbing story of how the BID pressures legally operated businesses to stop selling “cheap alcohol.” They didn’t mention Whiskey Blu there, though, let alone the worst offender in the entire city. And who is that? Why, Trader Joe’s, of course.
The BID loves them some Trader Joe’s, where you can get not just a small flask of vodka for under $3, but an entire bottle of 12.5% wine for $2.49. Oh, but that’s not cheap wine, that’s “affordable.” A whole different story. This kind of doublethink is hypocrisy if done consciously, otherwise it’s disassociative personality disorder. We kind of think it’s both. Super-depressing…we need a affordable cheap drink!

The picture of Jesus giving wine to already-drunk people is in the public domain cause it’s so gosh-darn old, and we got our copy from the Wikimedia Foundation here.
