Oh my goodness, well, of course you remember my recent discovery of the identities of a bunch of planter-placing homeless-hating Venice housedwellers and the criminal conspiracy they’re engaged in with the Los Angeles Police Department and Mike Bonin’s psychopathic staffie Taylor Bazley. And not only that but these sociopathic criminals, supergeniuses that they are, communicate their conspiratorial intentions amongst themselves by email. And those emails are public records.
But when I publish them on the internet they get really mad, it turns out. And they accuse me of all kinds of crazy stuff, like defaming them, or illegally publishing their email addresses, or being in league with drug dealers, or calling them names.1 And, because they haven’t learned any kind of lesson at all, it seems, they do all this via email, which obviously I’m going to publish because what the hell else would I do?
First take a look at this little slab of puckey from the marginally more sane than the other guy Andy Kleinman about my “post from a few weeks ago where you’re publicly attacking me and other people regarding the issue with the homeless encampments and planters in Venice.” What was wrong with it, Andy? Well, says Andy, “You put my email address, my name and my company, which from the get go is illegal because you’re doing it without my authorization and you’re defaming me without evidence. You also did the same with my neighbors.”
I mean, I don’t know about you, but if I don’t want something known to the world, like my email address (his is andyk@andyk.net if you’re interested) I don’t put it in a public record. But maybe that’s just me? And he blabs on for quite a while about how he’s really a good person and he really loves homeless people but these aren’t normal homeless people because they shit in his bushes and scare his wife. You can read the whole thing after the break. The worst thing they did? Their very existence prevented him from selling his house.
But then comes human hating housedweller Carlos Torres, president of the super-shady racketeer influenced and corrupt organization known as Venice Neighbors United. He’s so mad at me that he sent an email to my domain registrar demanding that they stop hosting my blog because I’m such a damn meanie.2 And, you know, I started writing this post with the best of intentions. I was going to address Carlos Torres’s points rationally, one by one, with all due civility.3 But it turns out not to be possible. Got to just quote the guy. Here’s a small teaser from his email. See the whole thing after the break along with Andy Kleinman’s.
This blog that you are hosting is supported by drug dealers ignorant dwellers that want to continue this nightmare
These people are obviously in business with drug distribution and have been posting residents emails, pictures and putting information about our personal life’s on their blog, they are insulting us and calling us names. They have put our very personal information on their blog, we are families, he is putting us in danger !!!!
You are hosting a very dangerous group of individuals that are going way beyond freedom of speech , they are accusing us of being sociopaths, human haters and more horrible accusations. This couldn’t be further from the truth, we been working to help the homeless community for over 20 years but this wave of drug addicts have been terrorizing our neighborhood .
Here’s a transcription of Carlos Torres’s email to my registrar:

Please help !!!!!
Is not legal, is not fair , this blog is putting public safety in jeopardy. They need to be shut down.
We don’t want to associate your company with this hateful group of people.
Just look at their article on illegal planters and you will see how they are just insulting everybody left and right .
I believe in freedom of speech but it comes with a responsibility, this is defamation and is putting us in danger.
They need to be shut down until they find a way to be productive and compassionate to society.
Hope you can understand the situation and shut them down, I’m sure you don’t want to be related to this negativity.
We are a big community of neighbors and we won’t stop until we make our neighbors safe. So we are asking you as a community to stop catering to this negative and dangerous blog, I’m hoping you will make the right decisions
Sincerely
carlos torres

And here’s the relatively sane seeming email from Andy Kleinman (but only relatively):

Mike,
I’m writing you regarding your post from a few weeks ago where you’re publicly attacking me and other people regarding the issue with the homeless encampments and planters in Venice. You put my email address, my name and my company, which from the get go is illegal because you’re doing it without my authorization and you’re defaming me without evidence. You also did the same with my neighbors.
I’ve lived in Venice for a long time, and I’ve been in my current house for about 7 years. I own my home. I live with my 18 month son, my wife and our two dogs. Over the past couple of years the issue with homeless encampments in Venice has gotten bad. I am not insensitive against homeless people and their situation. I do what I can to help people in need and have done it all my life. However what we are talking about here is a little different.
The people who have been camping outside our house for over a year are dealing drugs. We see them transacting constantly in front of house and in the alley. They have tons of stolen goods, bicycles and other things. They go through our trash, many times going through our mail, making a mess before trash pick up and leaving all kinds of stuff all over the sidewalk. They also pee and defecate by our fence. They make tons of noise, which makes our dogs bark, does not let my son sleep, and makes my wife afraid. We have tried to help them, offer them cash, and we have that people from shelters come to talk with them, but they are happy in their tents and doing their business. They are also very aggressive and rude towards us.
For this and many reasons we decided last year that we wanted to move, so we listed our house and sold it. While we were in escrow, the encampment got so bad that the new buyers cancelled the purchase. We have been unable to re-list and sell our house since, because we know we will deal with the same issue.
That is why, with the help of all our neighbors, we donated money to install these planters. We are looking to protect our home and our families.
I don’t know you, and for all I know you may think I’m so privileged to own a house and I should go fuck myself, but that would be dumb. I work very hard to afford my life and this house. I immigrated to this country and I have earned everything I own myself. I have lived in Venice, which has always been my favorite part of LA, for many years. We’ve always had homeless people and crime in Venice, but not to the point of having drug dealers selling drugs outside my front door, taking shits by my fence, and creating an unsafe environment for my family. I don’t think anyone deserves that, and no matter what you are going through in life nothing entitles you to do that.
So I would appreciate if you can take your post down, or at least remove our names and emails from it. I don’t disagree that many of these homeless people need a better solution, that they need a city government that will help them, and that we all need to do a better job to figure out how to make Los Angeles a better place, but our planters are not the problem here, and we as neighbors and family people did not do anything wrong here but trying to protect ourselves and each other.
Happy to talk anytime. Thank you,
AndyK

- Actual quote there. That’s the level of discourse we’re on.
- You may well know that registrars don’t host stuff, but that’s a whole nother story, too tediously technical to go into here.
- First of all, I’m lying. I had no such intention. Although note that the word “due” is a huge loophole here. I guess I’m not lying. I guess I’m about to address Carlos Torres’s points with all the civility due to them. Which, I’m sure you’ll agree, is far, far less than zero civility. It’s very copious negative civility. That’s the default civility level for the blog anyway, so I guess everything’s as it should be.
